Our locality in South Notts is also now suffering an increase in sleepless nights because of the continuing antisocial behaviour of the irresponsible business that runs NEMA.
The new WEBTRAK system advertised by NEMA merely records their behaviour and is somewhat akin to the recent craze amongst another antisocial element of our society who take pictures of their acts on their mobile phones.

During these hotter days it is essential to have the windows open at night. I can no longer do this due to the unbelievable noise forced upon us by NEMA. I have tried investing in an air conditioning unit but this is too noisy as well. The lack of sleep is affecting my concentration in the day which is not an option in my job.
It makes we wonder why more people are not complaining. Is it that they are not affected by the noise, do they think it will fall on deaf ears or that we have already lost the battle?
I think NEMA hope that if they keep fobbing us off with generic letters that those of us who bother to complain will give up eventually.

Having visited the NEMA Roadshow at Melton Mowbray on Wednesday 5th April, I am not convinced that they are listening to - or bothered about - the concerns of those directly under the new flight path with regards to night flights and the noise caused by them. We need to continue the fight, encourage our neighbours and friends to join us - and get NEMA designated before it's too late and we have to live with the consequences of noise and pollution!

Although I have not knowingly been woken by night flights, I have counted 6 between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. I am most concerned by the pollution that will be massively increased if NEMA's plans for 137,000 night flights p.a. by 2016 are implemented.
Why can't NEMA be designated?

The night flights seem to have increased significantly since Christmas, as has the noise level and the planes are often so much lower than before, ie the lights from the aircraft actually illuminate our north facing bedroom. Even with the windows closed the noise is much louder than a few months ago and we are regularly woken up. In fact last night I got up twice to look out of the window to see just how low two of the planes were as they sounded as if they were only just above roof level! If the volume of air traffic increases much more it will be a waste of time going to bed!

What type of plane wakes me up every morning around 4a.m.? Very low and very loud. Why am I so tired whilst driving? Will I lose my job? Will I have an accident? Who cares about my job? Why am I supposed to care about jobs at EMA when I am too tired and irritable to do mine? Why did I pay more for a house in the country to provide the peace and quiet that I desired? Why can I smell spent fuel in the air? What about pollution? Why should passengers pay less for a flight to europe than it would cost me for a taxi from Leicester to Gaddesby?

Despite several letters regrading the impact of the flight path on the quality of life in our village we continue to receive the same response from Nema: the flight path is over fewer people therefore an improvement (!), night flights are essential to business (including the comment that they are not the only airport carrying out night flights) and that some of the aircrafts we hear must be from other airports.
We find their attitude arrogant and to suggest that the noise is not soley as a result of their fligths is incredible. We have only had problems with aircraft noise over the village since Nema introduced their new flight path, plus the fact that the aircrafts in questions are flying at low altitudes and in the direction of Nema!
We are suffering flights all day and even worse are the many loud aircrafts from 9.30pm onwards throughout the night. Like many others, we no longer get a decent night's sleep. We will continue to reply to Mr Robinson.

I am frequently awakened by low flying aircraft during the night - these are aircraft presumably preparing to land at Nott E Midland. Is there a viewable timetable for these flights or are they a random occurence ? Why do a number of planes fly at a particularly low altitude when they are so far from the airport ?

Many of us who have complained to NEMA will have received a letter which probably contained the folowing paragraph:
"The night flying operation based at Nottingham East Midlands Airport is substantial and provides a very positive social and economic impact for the local area, and more widely for the East Midlands region. As such a dialogue continues with local stakeholders including local councils to seek to minimise the environmental impact of aircraft operations and to strike an appropriate balance between these positive social and economic aspects of aircraft operations and the environmental impacts that arise"
Does anyone have any knowledge of any studies done by NEMA or others to substantiate this claim? and who are the stakeholders?
I would expect to see an assessment of the marginal economic benefit of this activity. (i.e. stopping night flights would not lose 100% of the economic activity associated with those night flights but would eliminate 100% of the negative social impact of night flights)and have requested a copy of such a study from NEMA. I wait in anticipation but little hope!

just responding to feedback from Oadby. It is obvious that from some new radar records received today, that proof has been provided that Leicester City is being overflown for some of the arrivals and departures for NEMA. This is of course makes a mockery of the NEMA Consultation Justification and the supposed Government Policy that the flights are being targetted over less polpulated areas.
